- <p> SENTENCED. KATHERINE ANN POWER, 44, bank robber; to eight to
- 12 years in prison; in Boston. In 1970, as an anti-Vietnam War
- radical, Power drove the getaway car in a bank robbery in which
- a policeman was killed; she remained a fugitive until surrendering
- last month. Under state law, Power will be eligible for release
- in a little more than five years. Judge Robert Banks, who imposed
- the plea-bargained prison term, added a 20-year period of probation--virtually a life sentence of government supervision--as
- well as a requirement that Power not profit from selling her
- story. He also bitterly denounced any suggestion that Power's
- political motivation somehow mitigated her crime.
